About: Frequency Radio

Frequency was born in 1999, and started out as the radio society of the University of Central Lancashire. It wasn’t until 2003 that the station came under the control of the UCLan Student’s Union.

Now based in the Student’s Union, Frequency is a student radio station run by students, for students. Broadcasting exclusively online, Frequency produces radio that is aimed at the student population of UCLan, and it is run entirely by volunteers.

Our programming caters for a huge range of tastes with everything from sports discussion shows to specialist shows at the cutting edge of underground music. Previous special guests on Frequency include Jonathan Ross, Sean St Ledger (Preston North End) and Phil Jupitus.

Want to try something new, meet new people and learn some new skills? Have you ever wanted to read the news live on air? Or maybe you just want to channel your passion for great music? Then why not get involved? It doesn’t matter if you have no previous experience; we provide all the training you will need. Check out our “do it” page for more information.
